Building a foundation

Well, this is the first post in my Master Chess community. I made this so that people who are serious about becoming very strong chess players can have a place to share ideas. Being that this is the very start, I will just post about my own experience for now. My chess journey has been going on for twelve years now. I started playing when I was in high school. I read a little about chess here and there, and played in between classes. A few years after high school, I entered into my first chess tournament in the USCF. I played chess a lot over the next few years, but only really as a hobby. I have played in a few chess tournaments, and my USCF rating is currently 1560. The chess rating for a Master class player is 2200 +. I have finally decided to put my chess library into use and make a serious effort to become a professional level player. What I will be doing is intense training that combines computer play and analysis with book study and my own game analysis which will be compared to the computer analysis. I have been playing chess games under tournament time controls against the Fritz 6 chess program. I will begin book study today, starting with Silman's Complete Endgame Course.
